Re: Amex Spending Question

Use it! If there is an issue they will let you know. Don't make a payment quickly either. Pay before the statement posts if you like or pay after it posts but let the charges linger a bit. Don't stalk the site waiting for it to post so you can pay unless you need the room again for more purchases. If you do that often call them after the 61 day initial time period and ask for more credit.

I beat my amex cards like dead horses (sorry if I offended dead horse people). They get a payment on a revolver if I get a message letting me know that I am close to the limit (I set a reminder at $200 below max so I would know). They get a payment on my charge cards typically before it posts, or sometimes after it posts depending on how active I am at visiting the site. NEVER LATE AND ALWAYS PAID IN FULL is what makes them happy and helps you move up with them.

Relax and enjoy your card. Remember it's a tool for spending money, nothing more than a chunk of plastic.

Re: Amex Spending Question

Basically just spend like normal and do your  best to stay under the radar. I mean if you make like what CD says (10k a year) think twice before spending 4-5k on something. With me, I buy small ticket things that tend to be rather inexpensive. Like today, I went to the mall, and bought a shirt, a hat, and cinnabon on my card and it cost me about 70.00 roughly. Now hopefully it isn't going to scare them too much. I realize I have to pay it back soon, so I tend to keep the balances low and not go on a spending spree (although I wish I could, but I'd rather buy things when I can afford to and have the cash to do so. I can charge it on my cards and build a history as well). I have a friend who is a total trust fund baby and he runs his dad's Platinum to the tune of 4-5k a month and Amex has never blinked twice at his purchases (If I made 4-5k purchases every month, I'd be FR'ed by now.) The card is just a tool, use it wisely and stay under your creditors radars and it will do wonders for you. You'll be okay Coty...
