Amex adding another user approval?

I'm kind of curious is to why Amex had to approve an additional card? What kind of approval process does amex use to issue another card for your account? I never had to provide a ssn for another person on another cc. Does anyone know what they are looking at?

They use to check if you were blacklisted from amex but they don't anymore.

To speak on the blacklisted subject.... I had my mom as an AU on my cards for many years. Last year I guess they found her and removed her as an AU -- I went to add her back on there and boom denied. I then tried with her to app for her own Amex and boom denied -- no HP -- blacklisted.

Nm found online but need my card to do it which I don't have yet.

I had to do it by online chat. It seemed like my Everyday card was froze on line to do it. So the rep did it for me. So far American Express customer seems to be very good.

I think they still black list AU. Wife was denied when tried to add as AU.

wonder why that matters?  you as the card holder is ultimately responsible for the bill not the authorized user.

There's still potential risk even if the original member is ultimately responsible.
