New account BCE. CLI $1000.
My statement doesn't cut until Aug. 10.
Balance $504.
Can I pay with my bank via bill pay (push a payment) only a week into the first cycle to minimize my balance?
Will they accept a bill pay this early in the first month before the statement even cut?

I'm not aware of any reason NOT to do this. As long as you're not overpaying the amount (leaving a negative balance), there shouldn't be a problem.

Even with a new account? Fingers crossed

@FreedomHammer In an earlier thread the suggestion was made to pay by phone. I'm curious why you wouldn't go that route.
Because when I spoke to customer service this morning, they said I cannot make a payment until the first statement cuts.

Yes, you can push a payment.
It's been a while, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but the initial restriction is one payment in the first 30 days.
If you haven't made any payments, I really don't see what the issue is.

If you're wrong it's because they changed the rules of the game without telling either of us.

Yeah, I believe this is for every new account payment you add. So if someone were to add another checking/savings/etc account you can only make one payment with that account within the first 30 days as a sort of probabtionary period
The restriction is that you're limited to one prepayment, i.e. one payment beyond what one's statement balance calls for. If you have a statement balance, you can use as many payments as you like to pay that balance.
That's odd. I got my BCP at the end of June (I think first statement will cut 6/27) and I've always had the option to make a payment. I just made one last week. I didn't push it from my bank either, just entered my bank info like normal on the app and it was credited instantly.
It also still gives me the option. I just checked again. Which is good cuz I plan to make another before my statement cuts. I've read about this before, only 1 payment or no payments before first statement but that hasn't been my situation at all.....
