Re: Amex criteria

Believe you have to wait 5 years 1 month after BK.

Score is irrelevant, depends on your profile

Note that's 5+1 from the filing date, not the discharge date.

...and potentially much longer than 5+1 if the BK included Amex.

Re: Amex criteria

Certain minimum scores (hard to say what those are at this time with Covid being such a factor), low usage

across your cards, lack of credit-seeking behavior, minimal derogatories, at least a year to two years of history - basically solid credit management.

Re: Amex criteria

Howdy @Anonymous and welcome to these here parts of the interweb.   In my experience the info aout 5+1 post filing (not D/C) is accurate.  I was able to be approved with my BK still reporting.  My first Amex cards with the BK was the PRG (now called Amex Gold) and the SPG (now called Bonvoy).

PRG was approved with no preset limit but did have a $20k Pay Over Time option and my SPG card was issued very low limit at $3,100.  While I know that one can be approved with a BK on file, I will say that Amex never issued a line of credit increase until my BK fell off my Experian report.  Each and evey time without fail, my request for credit increase was denied for having a BK on file.

So while there are products to be had with Amex even with a BK on file, I wouldn't expect much and probably fairly lower limits.  In my experience it was a full 2 months AFTER my BK fell off my EX report before they would grant an increase.  Since then my couple of cards that have limits have grown substantially.

Slow and steady mentaility will serve you well when dealing with Amex.

Good luck and welcome again to the Forum.
