Amex platinum purchase verifacation

Not for me, doing recon for grandma. So she purchased a second mac just 8 days after the first and the latest purchase wasdeclined. I think this is good on amex, why would a old person buy two macs in 8 days bravo to them. Am i right?

Could be that or something else. No way to figure out their algo.

Grandma can purchase 2 gifts in a week for 2 grand kids. Right?

It makes sense to me to flag that. I get that you might buy one of something now and then another one in a week, but for something of the scale of a relatively expensive computer, I'd imagine if you were buying two (from the same place), that you'd get them at the same time (i.e., you'd know you need two from the get go). I'm also gonna guess that in this particular case, even the first mac probably stood out and the second one just made the flag definite.

Actually funny story. The mac was for my sister, she got her a fully loaded air and they just updated it so i returned it. To purchase the updated version. Yes it was fraud protection good job on amex.

Makes me think they are immieditly going to flag the 32 core macpro purchase when ever the hell that comes out. That would be for me, would be complete overkill for a 12 year old girl.

I have a slightly different take.  It's a good job on protecting themselves, not necessarily you.  Personally, I get annoyed with frauld alerts.  They only inconvenience me, and protect the lender, since I'm not liable for fraudulent charges.

Kudos for knowing the difference

Exactly. If you think they were "protecting the consumer", you are badly mistaken. They were 100% protecting themselves. No doubt about it
