Re: Amex question if I should apply if I have one?

I used to have a corp Amex back in '05 and while I don't remember the affect it had on my credit (wasn't credit savvy then) I will suggest that if u get a new one to have it backdated to when u became a member with your corp card. I was approved for BCE last month but my member since date now reads '05 even though I havent had an Amex since '07. Instant 9 years of Amex credit history.

Re: Amex question if I should apply if I have one?

Just from my experience, I would apply.  When I finished graduate school, the only thing on my credit reports was that I was a AU on my parent's Discover and Citibank Visa,  no real credit history of my own.  I started working for an investment bank right out of school which issued me an corporate AMEX which was in my name and I got all the statements like you do.  I realized I needed to get a credit card in my own name and applied for a AMEX Blue Cash Everyday Preferred. I got a message from Amex stating I needed to call this particular number. I called and they wanted me to fax in a W-2 which I did not have since I have been only working there for June and July, so she had me fax in my offer letter and they verified my income/employment, approved on the spot for $15,000.  There is no way they would give me a card with that kind of limit with only my parent's accounts showing on my Experian report.
