Amex question

Since so many people here are curious about financial reviews, I have a question also. Do the person under financial review get to keep their member since date if they have all their cards closed due to the inability to provide the tax forms, etc?

Re: Amex question

It will remain on your CR for 10 years... If you ever were to get back with amex in the future, short answer would be yes.  If you haven't been FR'ed then there is no need to worry about it, even if you were and provided them with that stuff, you have no need to worry about it as long as it is kosher.

I still vote for a sticky about Amex FR FAQ's Smiley Happy

It is my understanding that they remember the FR just like they remember the MSD. If you want to get in with them again 10 years down the road, they will remind you of those tax forms that you never sent before accepting you. So, the answer is: in order to get back with Amex you must "pass" the FR. Once you passed the FR you are just a regular customer, and you get all the perks, including backdating

They're gonna ask for those old tax forms even though the person might have a new job? LOL

In all seriousness, wouldn't this question apply to any FR at any time? From what I know, FRs try to verify the information you provided on your application to re-evaluate your creditworthiness. For example, if you get FRed 5 years after initially applying with a completely different job and income, would that bode badly for the FR since it won't match the information on your application?

It's not simply a matter of matching information but whether or not AmEx thinks that the information from the FR justifies the credit extended.

Yes. It is kind of weird. They would probably also ask for the tax forms between the FR and current date.

Furthermore, many people get asked for a lot more than just tax forms. A lot of the time AMEX asks for access to your checking account statements and such

I have never heard of that and frankly I doubt it!   What I have heard is that they will do an immediate FR based on your current app and your most recent tax.  The question is whether you can support the existing credit line, not whether X years ago you could support the cl on a card that has been closed.
