Hi all,
I recently posted that I upgraded from BCE to BCP due to an upgrade offer which I didn't receive and stupidly didn't screenshot. I'll blame it on Siri as she should have been looking out for me and taken care of screenshotting it haha.
Anyway, they have now offered to upgrade my Green to Platinum for 25,000 MR for 2K spend in 6 months. I accepted and DID take screenshots, so we'll see what happens. I had to call in though as it required a call since I wanted my AU to have Gold (no fee) instead of Platinum since she rarely uses it.
So hopefully my phone call didn't mess up the offer. The rep read it to me so fingers crossed. He probably thought I was nuts as I made him repeat the terms 3 times so no confusion. I just don't want to lose another offer.
That's terrific! Congratulations on your approval!! 🎉🥂
Enjoy all those points!!
Congrats on the upgrade.
Wow going from Green to Platinum - big difference !
I remember I had the Green in 1993 and then upgraded to Gold in 2000 and then invited to Platinum in 2017.
25 years to get to Platinum - well worth the benefits as we travelled heavily and the Centurion + Priority Pass lounges came in very handy during layovers.
This year planning on spending some $$$ on the Platinum as lots of MR points have accumulated during the pandemic....
And you may have made a huge mistake...
A $550 annual fee for 25k points just isn't worth it considering the current sign up bonus offers.

Thanks so much @cashorcharge ! I know it's not the best offer out there but I'm happy with it, and a very easy spend. Thanks again!

If OP had Platinum before and it's missing lifetime language, it's an OK deal, I guess... but yeah, trading a chance at 100k points on a new signup vs. 25k on an upgrade is
(My Green->Platinum offers are carrying lifetime language, and because of TL;DR unusual circumstance, though I haven't carried or used a Platinum or gotten an annual fee since 2008 or so, I'm considered to have had one through 2019. So no upgrades or signups for me until the late 2020's or I get an offer minus lifetime language. Sigh...)

Thanks for your kind reply, @4sallypat! I had an offer for the Gold as well and almost took that, but I really like the benefits the Platimum offers and plan to do a lot with it later in the year. Very much looking forward to enjoying the lounges. Thanks again and enjoy yours as well!

You two are 100% correct that it's not the best deal out there but my AF was coming up on the Green and it was a good time to upgrade. With the $30 PayPal credit until June and the 10x gas and groceries for 6 months plus all of the other travel perks I'll use, I think I'll come out OK. Thanks so much for the replies!

Are you getting a popup stating that you are not eligible for a Welcome Offer on upgrades? AFAIK there has never been a "once per lifetime" rule on upgrades, as those are specifically targeted to each cardholder, only on new card applications.

Are you sure that your upgrade includes the PayPal credits and the 10x on gas and groceries? My understanding is that the former is only for those who held their card prior to November 2020, and the latter is solely for new applicants during the current promotion.

Gosh, I hope so! The 10x details are in the Terms & Conditions/ Offer Terms I saved. There isn't any mention of the PayPal offer there. I asked the rep who handled my upgrade about that to make sure I was included.
