WaMu has been peppering me with emails about a PetSmart card. I have a cat and a pet python and just snake food can be expensive, not to mention habitats.

Back when my kids were little, a speaker from a local raptor (owls, hawks, etc) rehabilitation program spoke at their school. She told them how hard it was to keep the supply of mice and bunnies and all coming to feed the injured birds. Well, our cats were great hunters, and we were always finding their prey at the front door. (If we could recognize them, we called them "critters", if not, we called them "parts." ) The speaker was supposed to come back to their school, and they wanted to present her with some of the critters. So we double-bagged them in Ziploc Baggies and stuck them in the freezer.

Meanwhile, my mother-in-law came for a visit, and she went to make herself a gin and tonic with lots of ice. You can guess the rest...

Oh Hauling, wish I coulda been there.... Would she eat anything out of the fridge after that?  That's why I don't feed my snake prekilled.  Can;t stand the idea of rodents in the fridge.

How does the cat react to the python? Or, more importantly, how does the python view the cat?

My 16yo cat passed away in June. Yesterday I finally visited a shelter & may soon be adopting one.

I was wondering that too til the cat jumped in my lap while I was holding the python. Luckily the python wasn't hungry and the cat was only sniff interested...lol!! Hoe she doesn't try that on a feeding day.  that thing has a grip.

Good for you! All our cats have either come from the shelter or turned up at the door. I'm sorry about your cat. Our ancient one finally packed it in a year ago at age 19.

Re: Another reason why 'I HEART' WaMu...lol!!

Thats funny we always pick up what we think are strays but maybe they belong to someone. I have vaccinated and fixed so many cats...lol!!!  They are all strays that follow my kid home and usually in a matter of months they wonder back to where they came from.  My vet even asked where I was getting all the cats.   BoJangles, the one here now just walked up on the porch this summer and won't go away. Wonder if the cats are spreading the word...lo!

Somewhere out in your yard, you have that old tramp sign: Kind Woman Lives Here.

LOL!  Hauling.  I think a lot of people bring animals up here and drop them off to fend for themselves.  Had some cuties and think the ones that have disappered have gone by way of a fisherman thinking they found a cute stray.  The one here now is pure white with green eyes and was just barely a kitten.  Wouldn't stop following me everytime I came out so I had to feed her.  Got a black one with white socks that sleeps on th porch in my rocker.

Yeah, I got her when she was a wee kitten, plucked her from a semi-feral barn cat litter. Great cat, still miss her.

The shelter I visited is up to its ears in cats, too many choices, but I did connect with 2 or 3 so will probably go back to visit & I know I'll likely adopt one of them.

Your 19yo had a long life, tough when they finally depart.
