Anyone have the Paypal matercard? Unique issue I have.

Paypal matercard not showing as payment method using paypal at checkout. Using the card via paypal checkout gives 3% cashback - so with this not working I lose this cashback. Issue since aug 2023, CSR has always been absolutley useless - their usual tactic is to say clear cookies and paypal / synchrony blaming eachother transfering me back and fourth. Ive tried every option in the book, tons of cases, "refreshing / reseting" card waiting 48 hours, even reporting the card lost to get a new card activated (this didnt work). I have almost 100 hours on the phone with both companies, a dozen CFPB complaints, and FDIC / BBB complaints, dozens of letters.

Anyone have this issue where you attempt to buy something using: "Paypal with Paypal" at checkout on any site and your Paypal Mastercard does not show as a payment method? Any way to get this fixed?

Ill share their recent CFPB complaint response who are saying its security related without providing a solution:

"I am writing on behalf of PayPal in response to your complaint (“Complaint”) to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We have made multiple attempts to contact you directly over the last two weeks, but we were unable to reach you at any of those times. I apologize that you did not find my previous response to be satisfactory, but I appreciate you providing additional information that has allowed me to look into this matter in more detail. Please see below for further details on the Complaint and our response. Your Complaint states that you have a PayPal Extras MasterCard linked to your account, but that it is not being made available as a funding source for payments. You requested that your PayPal Extras MasterCard be made available again as a payment option. Response On April 23, 2020, you created a PayPal account (“Account”), at which time you agreed to PayPal’s User Agreement. Later on that same day, you applied and were approved for a PayPal Extras MasterCard® (“PayPal Card”), which was added to your Account to be used as a funding source. Upon receipt of your Complaint, we were able to locate the Account that was associated with your PayPal Card ending in -XXXX, and which you stated you have not been able to use as a funding source on your Account since roughly August 2023. Our review has confirmed that your attempts to use the PayPal Card as a funding source were declined by PayPal's internal security model. While we recognize this can be a frustrating experience, this system helps uphold the safety and integrity of the PayPal community and is intended functionality. As stated in the Restricted Activities, Holds, and Other Actions We May Take section of the User Agreement, “Under certain circumstances, in order to protect PayPal and the security and integrity of the network of buyers and sellers that use the PayPal services, PayPal may take account-level or transaction-level actions.” This same section of the User Agreement goes on to state, “Our decision about holds, limitations, and reserves may be based on confidential criteria that are essential to our management of risk and the protection of PayPal, our customers and/or service providers. We may use proprietary fraud and risk modeling when assessing the risk associated with your PayPal account. In addition, we may be restricted by regulation or a governmental authority from disclosing certain information PayPal, Inc. | PO Box 45950 | Omaha, Nebraska | 68145-0950 to you about such decisions. You agree that we have no obligation to disclose the details of our risk management or security procedures to you.” Nonetheless, there are a number of common reasons why payment attempts are being declined. We recommend that you check the PayPal Card details that you provided in your Account to ensure that the card number, expiration date, and billing address are correct and up to date. If a “Confirm Card” link appears next to your card details, you will need to confirm the PayPal Card before you are able to use it further with PayPal. This step helps to make sure that the card is valid and belongs to you. If none of these apply or if you continue having issues using your PayPal Card as a payment method, you may wish to remove it as a payment method and then re-add it to your Account. If this does not resolve your issues, you will need to use a different payment method. We recognize that this may not have been the answer you were hoping for, but it is important to note that the security measures mentioned above cannot be permanently deactivated, and therefore you may continue to experience declined payments or other Account actions. Explanation of Closure PayPal acted in good faith and in accordance with the User Agreement when taking a risk-based approach when deciding which payment options may be used for payments made using your Account. While we regret that these risk-based decisions are preventing you from using your PayPal Card for payments on your Account, we hope that the steps provided above will be of assistance to you going forward. We offer our sincerest apologies for any difficulties you may have encountered while using our services. Please feel free to contact PayPal's Office of Global Customer Complaints & Advocacy at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns or if we can be of further assistance. Respectfully, David C. Global Customer Complaints & Advocacy PayPal, Inc. cc: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau"

Did you link your PayPal credit card in your PayPal Wallet?
It doesn't link automatically.

Re: Anyone have the Paypal matercard? Unique issue I have.

Going to my: "banks and cards" tab in my Paypal account the Paypal Mastercard is not listed under my: "Credit and Debit Cards". However the card details is shown (see first image).

Attempting to add the card to my account results in the error in image two.

I'm pretty sure you need the PayPal Business Cash Back card to link with a business account.
It looks like yours is the personal one, thus the "This card is not supported" message.

Re: Anyone have the Paypal matercard? Unique issue I have.

Is this a new change? Its always been linked to my Papyal business account since 2020 and had no issues until Aug 2023. Is it possible "unlink" the card and link it to my personal paypal account? If this is even possible I am not sure if this would even solve the problem.

Beats me, I don't even know for sure that the personal card can't be linked to a business account.
I don't see anything clear cut on it doing a search.

If you also have the card linked to your personal account, that could be the issue, as a quick search showed that it has been an issue for many people.

I've got no practical experience with a business account, hopefully someone who actually knows something will come along.

Re: Anyone have the Paypal matercard? Unique issue I have.

Not linked to my personal paypal account or any other account. Its always been linked to the same Business paypal account. Attempting to add the paypal MC to my personal paypal account wallet as a troubleshooting method results in the same error message as the images above.

Re: Anyone have the Paypal matercard? Unique issue I have.

I went ahead and cancelled the card. The level of mental **bleep**ation at Paypal and Synchrony who cant even link their own credit card to their own platform is insane. Im sad to see I wont be able to get the 3% cashback but Im glad I dont have to deal with this BS anymore.

If I havent made it clear enough ive spent a tremendous amount of time on this with paypal and synchrony since Aug 2023.

Re: Anyone have the Paypal matercard? Unique issue I have.

Too late now, but I have my personal Paypal MC linked to my business paypal account.   That said, the Paypal account used to be personal and I cannot remember if I added the card before or after the conversion.

I do know that card can only be linked to one account, so I can't use it on my personal account.
