a checking acct and avoided a CA fee?

@Anonymous, This is the only card I use to fund accounts, I have NEVER had a CA Fee ..YEMV

(My CA is not set to zero)

Good Luck!

Same here.  If I am remembering correctly, I read MC in general are less strict about coding as a CA (with DC being a good card candidate), but I cannot recall where I saw it.

Re: Anyone used a Citi DC to initially fund

From what I read, Paypal MC codes as cash advance.

I meant using Paypal Key linked to another card (and you cannot link any Paypal card to key apparently)

Anyone tried paypal key with a bank?   If that works could be a useful workaround!

There were DP on Reddit where it didn't work. I haven't tried myself.

I have a great idea?!?!,  ..maybe we could get @Anonymous to try it?

I joined Ent CU this morning and PayPal Key did not work. It said I had the wrong CVV. Ended up using my cashRewards VISA to fund it. Seems like PayPal has learned from past mistakes.

Lol it totally just worked out that way. Ent is a local CU and DoC posted they were offering $200 to open a checking account, put $100 in, and activate their debit card. Easiest SUB ever so I just went for it. Figured I would try Key while I was at it but it was not to be.

I have my AOD visa linked to PP Key. Was just today contemplating opening and trying to fund Security CU savings acct with the key.

@Anonymousdid you use the key ccv as originally issued? Or, after requesting a new CCV (under the security link)?

I used the CCV as issued, @ocheosa and it works everywhere else. Looking on the DoC article, seems a few people got that error trying to use it for CU deposits.

It isn't PayPal's first rodeo, they were prepared this time. 😂

Thanks @Anonymous , appreciate the quick reply !! Dang, thought I could squeeze an extra few dollars out of the initial set up.

Just an fyi, I've used my ebay mc a few times to fund new accounts (Affinity & Langley). Of course you only get 1 everywhere else pt for each dollar. Guess I shouldn't complain as it all helps get me to the next 1500 redemption marker. <sighs>

Be careful using Sync cards for funding. My first and only CA to date was from using my PayPal Cashback to open my account at Service. Customer service at Synchrony was surprisingly great and they refunded me the fee and interest but it left a sour taste in my mouth considering that my NFCU cashRewards, which is a VISA and VISA is more known for CA issues, didn't hit me with a CA for DCU in 2019 or Ent CU like a week and a half ago.

On the subject of Key, doesn't hurt to try it. Smiley Happy
