when you have a "dirty" profile like me...inquiires dont do anything. My scores have stay the same all thru my app spress and new cards reporting. If you were or someone else who isnt in a dirty bucket tried to app like me....your scores would tank.

You make a very valid point pizza.  If anything I've noticed an increase in my scores during my surge of applying for new accounts, probably from derogs falling off or getting to the point where their individual impact is ever decreasing.  I might lose a point here in there between the new account and the inquiry, but not nearly as much as I'd lose per account if my file was pristine.
