No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
There's no flags for closing cards and consumer choice is better than non-use closure because you can control the notes put on the credit report such as requesting they put "closed by consumer in good standing". As for closing your cards, fico dings you for the percentage of cards carrying a balance. If you have 9 cards with 6 carrying a balance, you're dinged for having use on 66% of your cards. If you close the 3 you aren't using, that goes up to 100% for a bigger ding.

I'd hold on to your oldest accounts.
You can also just toss them in the sock drawer. They'll eventually be closed for inactivity.
In the long run, they strengthen your profile whether closed or open.
I laughed while reading the title. 10 CC's in 3 years isn't bad at all. I've opened more than that since Jan 2019.😂
Count me in the camp that sees no purpose to closing cards that have no AF from a credit score POV. I have truly tried to find the benefit of doing so, but always arrive at the same conclusion of it being either neutral, or a negative effect on a score. I suppose it is better than having an account closed by the issuer. I have just found out recently that if you have a thick very clean profile, Chase will let you know of the intention to close an account that is not being used at the cards expiration date. A call to CSR will result in being able to keep it open or do as I did and transfer the CL to another Chase card and close that card with a closed at consumer request in the comments. If I could see the advantage I would like to close a few myself, including TD bank, Barclaycard, and Wells Fargo. I would also add Discover if it did not provide a useful TU fico 08. Two of those 4, I need to swipe soon or they might close them for me. In truth there is only about 6 cards that get regular use for anything to speak of. The TD bank, and Barclaycard is set up for netflix and hulu which is it's sole usage.
