Re: Applied for Amex Blue Cash card

Was this an instant approval? If so they lowballed the hell out of your limit, and you can get more!

When I applied I got a super lowball limit of 2K.

Wait until your first payment due, PIF it, and ask for a CLI. I requested 15K after my 1st payment and got it (keeping in mind I started with 2K, you did better).

If you request 25% of your stated income after a month or so, you should get it no problem.

Btw, get CLIs on your BoA cards. I have a Worldpoints platinum plus, they gave me 5.5K automatically when I had zero income just over a year ago. (But that might've been partially due to the fact that I kept ~ 10 - 20K w/ them in my checking acct). As long as you're in good standing w/ BoA, you should get CLIs no problem.

Haha I don't really need a high CL, because at most I use about 500 of credit per month. But I'll try anyways since you mentioned it, more is better right? Smiley Happy *edit* Just used the online credit line increase feature on the BoA site, got 1500 on my student platinum(formerly 1000) and 2800 on my world points(formerly 1200) I think they can do better than that right? I'll give them a call... haha.

Good for you and Keep it Up your Good Work!!

You can carry the balance if you got 0% intro APR if needed, but try to PIF before due date then eliminate the interest charges like hauling & cheddar said.

It is very good that you got CLI.  Your util will reduces a lot by it, and your credit score will increase.

I am the one like you too.  I agree with andyaycw, I uses my CCs at everywhere where accept the CC payments with any amount to increase my reward pts.  I uses my CCs like cheddar said.  It is not hard, just be smart enough to manage your CCs.  You are still teenager, and you have bright future.  I am very proud of you.

P.S.   Just curious, do you have any joint accounts with your parent/grandparent?

No I don't have any accounts with my parents or anyone else. But I do have a brokerage account and a Roth IRA. I don't know if that helps me with credit card companies or not.

No, it doesn't.  It's not on your credit report, and CC apps typically only ask about income, not current assets.

Good, you are on your own!
You are really independent, and this tells me you have wonderful parents.  You are very good example for many youngsters.  You should be proud of yourself and proud of your parents.  Once again, keep up your good work!
