Are All Cap1 Cards Bucketed?

Hello again,

Sorry about the misleading title, I couldn't find a way to shorten it. I know that not ALL Cap1 cards are bucketed, but do all Cap1 products (Savor, QS, Venture) have the potential to be bucketed? The reason why I'm asking this is because I received a measly 1k CL on my QS and I'm curious to know if I was re-bucketed after closing my starter cards.

Thanks!

I’m in the same position and would love to hear the opinions on this. I recently got the SavorOne with a 1k SL. I also used to have bucketed starter cards from C1 that have been closed for awhile. Good luck to us both lol

Known buckets for Cap-1 are you are either a rebuilder or you are not. Low limits outside of rebuilding can be due to the bank not liking your profile at the time you apply.

Hopefully they just don't like my profile atm, as I'm not really rebuilding (my history is good, no missed payments, no derogs).  I guess we will see.

If you put lots of spend on the card, it should grow. If you don’t put lots of spend on it, it won’t. Capital One isn’t known for giving big increases to people who don’t use their limits.

I figured. I'd honestly be happy with a CL of 5k-10k, but no higher. I plan on increasing my scores over the year and maybe applying to the Venture next summer as a beginner travel card, as I'll be out of school. The Venture should have a higher CL anyway. I just don't want the QS to be capped at 3k or something Smiley LOL

If it is, I guess I can wait and try to combine the two cards (if the option ever comes back)

Re: Are All Cap1 Cards Bucketed?

Venture is said to be minimum $5K SL so there’s that.

If you want the QS to grow, your best bet is to make it your primary card for the next 6 months and charge it up and PIF.

Accounts are bucketed not clients.

I have had Cap One cards with SL of $300 to $3,000 to $30,000 over the years.

I have received CLIs as low as $500 and as high as $9,000.

GL!

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

Re: Are All Cap1 Cards Bucketed?

Every Capital One card is in a bucket. When you get a new card, it could be in a lousy bucket, a good bucket, or an in-between bucket. And in Capital One's case, the card stays in its bucket throughout its lifetime.

When we refer to bucketed Capital One cards, we're generally discussing starter cards whose limits won't grow. People get frustrated because they've built good credit, yet their old card is stuck in this starter bucket.

It's been explained that credit card limits for some banks, including Capital One, are backed by investors. Leaving people who've become "creditworthy" in the starter bucket makes investing in that bucket less of a risk.

There are members who've reported growing cards that started with $300 limits. I don't think their cards have changed buckets. Rather, I think their cards somehow avoided being placed in the starter bucket at the time they was issued.

+1 I've been sitting at $1500 CL with the card for almost two years now. Just decided several months ago to do the same thing and made the QS my main card to pay for stuff like groceries, bills and dining. Hopefully, by using it more and PIF each month that by the middle of the year it might help with a  chance at a CLI or even finally upgrade to the Venture One card at least.
