Hi All, currently in the garden HARD for at least another year, waiting for scores to come up and accounts to age before apping.
What was your first "higher limit" credit card? Higher limit meaning 5k and up?
Around what score were you at?
i have about 90% of my baddies falling off this time next year and curious about AMEX BCE and Chase Freedom
Never late on any credit cards, just paid all but 1 cc down to 0% UTI
My first 5k card was Paypals extras M.C. I believe my credit was only 3 months old AAOA and score around 710. Then First 10k was Venture. fico 730 AAoA 7months. Did get a lowes at 25k but thats a store card, now I just got a Nasa rewards for 20k AAOA 7 months fico 710. I am really trying to find the garden for atleast 2 months then going for Navyfcu
Just my first 5k+ card, Amex BCE 5k. Only 6 months credit history and my EX was in the 680's.
I have a thin but clean file though.
First $5k limit card was from Chase at 11 months of credit history. No baddies. It was their Southwest Airlines Plus card.
Around the same time, I got my Delta Skymiles limit up to 4.2k.
My first decent credit line, after cleaning up my act from 12 (yes, you read that right) charge-offs in 2006 and a FICO under 500, was $5K with Chase Freedom in about 2012. I think my scores were around 650. I had maybe two older COs that hadn't fallen off my report, but no late payments and no debt at all at the time I applied, mostly because I didn't have access to credit for so long and had learned to pay cash for everything. I had a few cards with lower limits, including a Barclays mastercard with a $2200 CL.
I was approved for a Chase Sapphire with a $20K CL in late 2013. By then my scores were hovering at 700ish. I have not had any late payments and little debt. My other high limits since are comparable--$20K with AmEx, $18K with Citi Diamon Pref, $20K with BoA. I use each for different monthly bills as a few months ago, Barclay closed an account of mine because of too little utilization. Just as an aside, I was also approved for a $400K mortgage in 2013, which was a dream come true. Scores now are close to 800.
GL!!!
Just last week with my new CapOne Quicksilver VS. My first 5k card.
Chase Freedom was the very first card to grant me a starting CL of $5,000 and that was last month. Now Home Depot was my first card to reach a $5,000 CL (via CLI), I started out with a $500 CL. My TU score was 645. My overall utilization hovers around 2%.
My first decent limit was my Key Bank world mastercard from December of 2011 starting at 7K and still have not gotten an increase and I never asked them for an increase since I do not use it much at all. Just enought to keep it open and then a month later Discover started me with 6K. But after that I all the cards I have apped for has had a starting line of 5K or more. Before Key Bank I would get anywhere from 1-3K starting lines until my UTI whent down to under 10%. In my experiance is that if you have a score close to 700 and above and your UTI is under 10%, most creditors start you off at 5K and above but preferably try to app when your UTI is at 5% or below for better starting lines if your overall credit limit is under 30K accross all of your revolving accounts.
2013 when I did the 3x CLI on my Amex BCE and the limit then became 12k.
Chase gave me my first 5K limit card. It was their SW Rapid Rewards Premier Card. My score on EX at the time was 614 and AAoA was like 8 months.
