Authorized User On Credit Card

Hi!!

Should I remove myself from my wife's credit card that I'm an Authorized User?

Currently I have three credit cards showing on my report one which is mine alone and two which I'm the authorized User. The reason I ask is because the card has a balance and shows one 30 day late payment. It's only a year old. I got put on do build my credit itself these are the cards reporting

Best Buy
Limit 1000 Balance 0
Never late 4 years

Capital one Limit 3000 Balance 1450
Late once by my wife a year ago 30 days

Macy's limit 10,000 Balance 0

Should I take myself off the capital one and get my own card or two more to have three total cards reporting or would me being taking off hurt my score??

Only late payment on my report is that card

Re: Authorized User On Credit Card

I remember you from the rebuilding forum, thiugh I haven't stopped back in since this morning. I think everyone has said to open two more cards in your name. Once you have done this, then I would definitely remove yourself from being an authorized user on your wife's card. You need to build positive credit history, and her mistake is hurting it.

Re: Authorized User On Credit Card

Authorized User can be good in certain conditions but once the originsl user history has a negative or takes a negative direction, its best to go your own route. Id second getting at least 2 more tradelines so you can build your score.
