Authorized User related questions

Situation:

I have my girlfirend as an AU on my Discover and Cap1. At the moment she is a student and does not have a SSN. She will be starting her job soon and will have a SSN in the near future.

Questions:

1. Does having her on as AU affect me positively/negatively ?

2. When she does have a SSN, I was advised to call in and register her SSN with the cards. Does from that point on it start to affect either of us ?

3. Does she get back dated and benefit from my perfect PIF record since 2007 or from when her SSN is added ?

4. From her point of view what benefits her more once she has a SSN a) Continue being a AU b) Apply for her own cards ?

Thanks in advance !

So you don't get buried in the nasa fiasco...

1) If you give her the card, and she racks up a big bill, it can affect your utilization

2)Adding her will not change anything in your file, just the balance reporting

3)She should get the full age of the account added, which should take a statement or two.

4)Let the AU status report, then once she's "scorable," she should be able to get a card or two on her own.

Re: Authorized User related questions

Thanks for that information. I am still not clear regarding #4. If she continues being an AU (once she has a SSN) what would benefit her more. Cause if her score benefits being an AU just as much as having her own cards I would probably do that. Hoping she doesnt land here, I consider myself more responsible financially Smiley Wink

Lol at the NASA dig. If only they knew the craziness we would have been by now having a MAVEN, Curiosity card line-up already Smiley Happy
