Auto CLI from Amex

I have a Hilton Amex with an $18k credit limit. I was waiting until after my Home closes on the 31st to request a CLI and wanted to request $30k. Well yesterday morning I get an email saying thank you for being a valued customer blah blah blah we have increased your credit line to $23k. That’s a $5 k increase without asking. Should I call and ask for $30k or click the love button? I’m worried either one of those would give me a HP and don’t want to mess with my mortgage. Did it hurt my chances of getting a CLI in August?

Whatever Amex's cap for you will not have changed due to an automatic CLI.  Amex CLI requests are never a hard pull.  If there's any chance of the increased credit available to you impacting your mortgage approval, I would suggest waiting until you have closed.  Otherwise, no harm.  You can do this online for up to 3x your current limit ($69,000), although there is a chance that going that high they'll ask you to submit a 4506-T form to verify your income for 2015 and 2016 (2017 will not be available to them from the IRS until next month).  At $30k, most people are never asked, though, and you can always exit out, ask for a lower amount, and then recycle the form(s) they mail you automatically when you are prompted for a 4506-T.

Congrats on both the home and the auto CLI.
