That's what I'm going to do this year.  They usually have pretty good sales so I should be able to find something relatively affordable.

I'm hoping they won't CLD me again.

Whoa, I'd better go check my card! Smiley Very Happy Sorry about that.

Haha no problem, I didn't mean it the way you think I did!

I very rarely use my J.Crew. Not only have they not CLD'd me, they have actually increased my limit.

I buy gloves and scarves once a year for holiday presents.

I'm not really thrilled with the idea of buying something with the sole intent of showing activity on the card and returning it. Some poor 8-bucks-an-hour employee has to go through all the doo-dah of ringing it up in the first place and then managing the return, tying them up and costing the store money in exchange for nothing at all.

I seriously doubt that you'll get CLD'd. Store cards often lie around gathering dust for years and are never noticed by the issuer.

I was curious about my store cards as well. I want CLI's tho, maybe a small purchase monthly?

A small monthly purchase certainly wouldn't hurt your chances of getting a CLI.

Re: Avoiding CLD

You just never know with ANY type of card anymore, what they like to see in order to give CLI's.

My PayPal Smart Connect Card for example, I was given an initial 500CL, used the card like crazy for the first 3 months, paid in full every month, on the 4th month asked for CLI, they gave me a 125 CLI, I SD'd the card (not really a card) for about 3 months, then used it to make a few purchases in one day, and as soon as the balance hard posted to my account I paid it in full, waited a month and asked for a CLI (received a letter in the mail saying "You do not have enough experience at your current CL") one week later I hit the luv button again, entered my income and hit submit, next page says "Congratulations, your CL has been increased" to 2150.

If that story doesn't tell it all, I don't know what does.

It's just so hard to figure out what these creditors want to see from us.
