BA Avios Changes for Short haul

Not really probably the best place to post, but mod please move if needed.

It appears BA is raising their short hauls w/partner airlines if people didn't already know this whom use Avios. From another site

Effective February 2, 2016, British Airways will no longer offer 1-way, short-haul (under 650 miles) coach award tickets on partner airlines in North America for 4,500 British Airways Avios points.

From that date, those flights will cost 7,500 British Airways Avios points each way. Longer routes are NOT affected.

I was a little bummed about this. I'll have to plan something before Feb to get the value I intended when I applied for my card last month.

This is a big bummer but still better than 25K AA miles round trip. Seems like British Airways is just trying to devalue Avios as much as they can.

Ya they can't nail you with the surcharges since not overseas so they are just devaluing this way it appears:
