BARCLAYS REWARDS BOOST QUESTION...

Just got the Barclays Arrival and looking to crank out the $3000 spend quickly.  I went on rewards boost and basically it says earn two miles for one dollar spend.  I already get 2 miles per dollar spend without the Reward Boost so is this 2 miles in addition to my already 2 miles per dollar benefit?  Or is it just the same thing that I already get?  If it's the latter than there is no reason to go through Rewards Boost I guess.

Re: BARCLAYS REWARDS BOOST QUESTION...

What LTL said, it's in addition.

But rarely is RewardsBoost the best deal, IMO.  It depends on what store you're looking at, but in almost every case I can think of, you can do better going through a different shopping mall, still using your Barclay card so you're spending toward your spending requirement, but getting more cash on the side than you'd earn points with RewardsBoost.

Going to cashbackmonitor.com to run a search of the stores that pop up for me at RewardsBoost,

Bed Bath and Beyond - 1 portal offers 5% cashback, 3 portals offer 4% or better

WalMart.com - 1 portal offers 5% cashback, 2 portals offer 4% or better

Kohls.com - 1 portal offers 6% cashback, 3 offer 5% cashback and 6 portals offer 4% or better

Carter's - 1 portal offers 5% cashback, 2 portals offer 4%, and 4 portals offer 3% or better

In my opinion, 5-6% cashback beats 2 points per dollar by a mile (or 3-4 miles as it were).

Note that most portals have a minimum threshold to cash out, but if you do shop online regularly, you should have no trouble meeting that.

Chris.
