Re: BCE decline :( at least I got approved for Chase Freedom with a "decent" limit.

FOR SURE THIS TIME! lol. The main reason why I got out was because I wanted to have my accounts age at the same time instead of apping for one...then apping for another shortly down the road. The only one I want left is the BCE. But since I got declined, my charge card is good enough for now. I want to make sure that once I app for the BCE, I blow their socks off with my score and report. And they won't have ANY reason to decline me...as a matter of fact, they'll just have to give me a high limit since my report will be amazing...you'll see! Smiley Wink lol.haha.

Adding a new auto loan will help in the long run but the first few months you will take a hit. FICO does count multiple inq's for rate shopping as 1 (if done in a 14day period) and any lender can see that on manual review. If that was the reason Amex denied you- you might want to ask for a manual review noting the inq's

I did, but still got declined. Finally got help from a really nice guy who explained to me that those inquiries are very new, even though it might be for a rate shopping. Also mentioned about my brand new loan account. So he told me to just give it 60-90 days for it to age a little and for it to report and then I try my luck at it again.

Oh well. Only time can help I guess.

Do you know when you are planning to buy the car?
If you let your CC age for >90 days, or preferably 6 months, you should be fine. I don't really know much about auto loan underwriting though. In my experience I have just winged it and didn't think through it and just applied, which is why I am so screwed right now.

Do you care about what APR they give u or you just want an auto loan? You have any idea how much you want to finance vs. downpayment yet?

I'm shooting for 6 months. We'll see though. And yes, I do care about my APR. I want to make sure I owe NOTHING on my credit cards. which currently, I owe about 4100 on my Citi Card. Everything else is pretty much at 0...and if they're not at 0, then they're going to be because I plan to pay them all in full. BUT, my 4100 that I owe, I have 0% APR until March 14'. So that shouldn't take long to pay those down. As far as downpayment, possible 2k or 3k. Possibly even more. Financing wise, I want to maybe finance 14k. Not sure though. Everything is kinda still up in the air. If anything, I want to put at least 20% down since its going to be my first Car Loan. So my downpayment would have to be around the 3k range and up.

they might use FICO enhanced auto to calculate your scores when you apply for an auto loan as well.

Wow! Approved for the CSP but denied the BCP. I was thinking of applying for the BCE in Spring of 2014. Is the BCP harder to get than the CSP? Is the BCP non NPSL like the BCE? Trying to figure out if I need to lower the bar.

Congrats OP on the Freedom! Nice limit too!

For Amex, if you use your charge card, they'll care less about your report.  "Blow their socks off," while admirable, isn't necessary with Amex.  They just care about how much you use your card, how much you pay at once, and your transaction/risk/fraud internal scoring.

If that's good, app again in 30, 60, or 90 days.  Amex doesn't care how often you apply with them, so long as it's past 30 days.  Don't worry about the CL, if your aforementioned internal scores are high on the charge card, you'll receive a high CL.

In my view, if one uses the charge card the way Amex prefers, they are the easiest lender to be approved and receive high CLs.

Really??!! I have been using my CSP so I can get the rewards since my rewards aren't that great with amex. Thats the whole reason WHY I applied for the BCE so I can use it more. Because the Green card isn't going to do much for me.
