From Amex’s website…
“Blue Cash Preferred 3% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores.”
Does anyone know if Home Depot is included in the select department stores?
I spend a lot of money with Home Depot so I’m looking to see what the best reward card would be for this situation.
Thanks
Sorry, but no. There is a list somewhere on Amex's website, and it's relatively short. It's things like Kohl's, Boscovs, Sears, etc. Home Depot does not count.
Here's the list. The department stores included are very specific. Other categories are fairly wide open.

Ah, bummer. thanks for the info though ![]()
That is good info to have. Thanks, I appreciate the info and link.
Thanks for the info, i'm going to look into that card now.
Hardware and Home Improvement Stores is one of the 5% cashback categories you can select for the Vantage West Connect Rewards Visa. There have been a few threads recently about the card and the CU so you can search for some basic info there.
Thanks for the info, i appreciate it. I will look into that now
It looks like the Farmer's Rewards Visa card lets you get 3% back on home improvement also. I don't know anything about the card, I just found it when searching for a home improvement card.
It's also got 3% on Farmer's products if you coincidentally have their insurance, and 3% on gas.

If you have a Lowes near you, you might consider their card as it's a 5% discount at the point of purchase. I have a Menards, Home Depot, and Lowes near me and have shopped at each of them, and I haven't seen a huge advantage of one store over the other in terms of product or customer service.. so I'd go for the Lowes card if I was doing a home improvement project just based on the savings.
