Contacted BECU about a CLD out of nowhere (Scores haven't changed mid-high 700's), they say many accounts affected and they are in discussion internally about how to fix the error. It has affected some people's accounts by accident.
They say it could take a couple of weeks...
Boeing's stock is down too. Big layoffs.
Seeing this thread made me go check my account. So far it remains untouched.
Thanks for giving the heads-up.
Yep. Happened to me. My FICO score is in the 700's. Up until yesterday, I only carried my BECU Visa, my DL, and my health insurance card in a little rubber pocket adhered to the back of my phone case. I was absolutely humiliated at the Mukilteo QFC last night when my card was declined multiple times due to my credit limit being dumped from $39,500 to $1,900 quite unceremoniously. I couldn't even pay for a $1.79 jar of marinara. 21 years with BECU. Auto loans, PLOC, CC, my kid's account. Never late on a payment. No mas. I immediately went to Chase. When I was at the Everett Banking Center this morning there were two other guys that were severely affected by this too. I guess they simply don't want our business. Well? They succeeded.
Chill out.
Somebody pressed the wrong button. It sucks, but it happens. Why would you end a 21 year relationship on a simple mistake? Did they ruin your credit, repossess your car, foreclose on your house, lose your $1,000,000+ retirement account? No.
Chill out.
@WTL1 oh, because you were there at the Everett banking center with the other Gentlemen and myself so you know? You completely overheard the conversation I had with the BECU representative? Never mind the fact that this will in fact affect my FICO score adversely, and yes. That is precisely why I will end a 21 year relationship with BECU, because of the way I was treated at the Everett banking center yesterday morning. They made it fairly clear that they don't want my business any longer.
Interesting DP's-
my account had a 40K CL (which is supposedly their max exposure) and it was cut to less thank 10K. MY util went from 5% to over 100% which seems unnecessarily punitive for a well managed account. Anyway, if it doesn't get fixed in the next couple of weeks, I will pay off and close because they are just one of many accounts and this type of action is a bit much - I get they are feeling exposed by macroeconomic forces but my other lenders are more stable.
My wife, who has lower scores, has a untouched $20K line so maybe it is the large lines they decided to attack. But, really, if I were them I would just lower it in stages, don't just don't drop the hammer below the guys balance if it is well managed and scores and util are OK.
NFCU doesn't do stupid things like this, AFAIK.

Went and checked mine, no change for me at this point in time.
After seeing this thread I checked my account and it is untouched as well...
