Well as many of you already know, my 99/500 123 rewards card graduated at the 9 month mark and they increased my limit from $500 to $2000.
But today I received the official "upgrade" letter from them. It states:
"We are pleased to inform you that we have upgraded the status of your above referenced Bank of America secured card account to an unsecured account. In addition, we have increased the credit line and removed the annual fee. You have managed your credit card responsibly and this is our way of thanking you for being a valued Bank of America customer."
Is this common practice for them to remove the annual fee? I'm super excited that they did, but I didn't think this was normal practice. Just wondering what others have experienced.

Congrats!!! Wished i could graduate earlier...opened mine back in 5/12. I love the fact that if you qualify they will even give you a CLI when you graduate!
in the past, it you got a cli on the 99/500 usually it was to only 1K and definitely not common to get the AF removed automatically upon graduation. Things change though in the credit card world.
in the last few months we've had people come here saying they called in and were graduated in even less than 9 months on the BOA secured card(not sure if thses were fully secured or 99/500). I know as recently as Spring and Summer 2012 BOA was really pissy about removing Annual fees.

true about early graduation...Im going to call if i can qualify for early graduation (without the HP of course) if not then its only 2 months till my anniversary year so will just wait it out.
Yah, they must be lightening up a bit, I never even called them, they graduated my card and gave me all the extras automatically.
I guess stranger things have happened. But in the last 9 months I've ran probably close to $9,000 through the card and never carried a balance, usually making payments 3 or 4 times a month.
