I am in the rebuilding process and I was thinking that I should add another secured card. I currently have 1 WF secured and 3 comenity store cards. I was thinking about the BOA secured card... but I was concerned that I may be denied. I applied for a Cap One secured a few months ago and was denied. Is BOA pretty easy to be approved for?
BofA is a little picky with the secured card what are your scores and baddies?
Do you bank with them?
I do not bank with them. I bank with Wells Fargo and do have a secured card with them.
Scores are :
Experian - 591
Equifax - 571
TransUnion - 627
I have 1 secured WF card with 600 limit
I have 3 Comenity store cards
My utilization is 6%
I now have 4 inq
1 co from some cell phone company in 2009
Defaulted student loan in 2010 which has been paid
I would like 1 more secured card. I was denied for a Cap One secured back in Dec. I would preferably like to get a card that graduates to an unsecured card. I just don't wish to be denied again... lol
If I dont have a shot at BOA... any other suggetions?
Have you visited the Rebuilding section of this forum? You may be able to get rid of those baddies before applying for another secured card. If even Capital One rejected you, your chance of getting approved by BofA is slim. A good strategy may be to move your assets to BofA then leverage the banking relationship to get a credit card with them. If you don't follow this and get rejected, there is a list of baddie-friendly credit cards some in this forum that you can look for.
There is no BOA in WI where I live, so banking with them is not really an option. I need one more secured card. Should I reapply for Cap One now that I have a couple months of good history? Should I just get an Open Sky since they give them to everyone?
statedept fed credit union has a good secured card no credit check either take a look there... sdfcu.org
Why did cap one deny you in the first place?
These were the reasons I was given for the Cap One denial
The reasons for our decision are:
Based on your credit report from Experian, length of credit history
Based on your credit report from Equifax, there are too few or no revolving accounts
Based on your credit report from Equifax, lack if recent account information
I had only had my WF card about a week when I applied with Cap One. I have since added 3 store cards.
