Paid off all my credit cards last week.
($45k worth) after selling a rental property.
Was able to get Amex and Discover to do on off cycle to report $0 balance, but Bank of America was a big fat NOPE.
HOWEVER, they did offer to send me a letter of credit (via fax or snail mail).
Wondering if getting the letter and sending to the bureaus would yield anything.
Two questions:
1. Saw a post that suggested CB's no longer have a fax number. Can I register for an account with the CB's and send the letter that way?
2. Would doing this show as a report of discrepancy and ultimately harm my scores?
Reason I'm trying to push this through is I intend on aoplying for Chase Sapphire or Marriott Bold card to get into the points game. Have several trips coming up in the next few months, two of which I'd like to book yesdyerday on the card ($7k total?, then pay off.)
Would my efforts be futile?
Thanks for the input!
