Bankruptcy

Twenty one years ago I declared bankruptcy. I did manage to get back on my feet and have been debt free for the past ten years. Fast forward to 2015, I tried to pre-qual for a Cap.one card. Cap one's web site stated in no uncertain terms " If you used Cap. One for a prior bankruptcy filing you may not qualify for our credit cards" I looked up my old bankruptcy  filing, and sure enough Cap one was listed. My questions are 1. Has anyone ever had an experience with an app for a credit card like this? 2. Is this a routine statement from Cap. one, or was I targeted by Cap one because of a misfortune years ago?

For a BK that old, and assuming your credit is in good shape currently, you will have no trouble getting back in with Cap One. They are very forgiving, and many people have gotten their cards again with BK's much more recent.
