I had the Barclay Arrival World Elite + card but couldn't justify the annual fee so dropped it to the Barclay Arrival Card. I also had the Barclays Travelocity Amex which they discontinued and gave me a Barclay Arrival Card. Now I have two of the same card.
I would combine but that's where the problem comes in. The regular Barclay Arrival card has a lower interest rate of 18% but two less years of being open. Former Travelocity has a whopping 25% interest rate but is an older tradeline and I have a low AAoA. Not sure which to combine to because they both have their unique perks. Called Office of the President, said there was nothing they were willing/able to do, not even PC on one.
Ideas?
I absolutely detest when they use the word "unable" when they mean "unwilling", and I'll generally call them on it.
The Office of the President can do anything they please - everything from closing both on the spot to PC'ing to
increasing limits on both to 50K if they're so inclined. I'd just keep them both open I suppose.
Did you try asking if they would lower the higher APR to match the lower one? It seems silly for them to give you different rates when your risk should be the same to them either way.
I asked them to lower the interest rate. I asked them to change the card type. I asked them everything and got the standard "sorry".
