You can transfer points from UR to AA. You need to transfer from UR to Marriott (1:1), then to Starwood (3:1), then to American (1:1.25). If you're getting a great value for each AA point, it can be worth it.

This is silly.  Why would anyone do this?

I got 2.9 cpp on my last award booked with AA miles. I think that's pretty good for coach seats.

Had I taken the UR/Marriott/SPG/AA+25% route, I would have gotten 1.208 cents per UR.

I'd have been better off just booking through the UR portal with the CSP I had then for 1.25 cpp.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Yes I forgot about that, and if you have the CSR, it'd be 1.50 cpp.

This card was DOA from the beginning.

It had promise and then fell flat on it's face.  So, Barclay back to the drawing board.

Personal Cards: Amex Plat | Amex Delta Res | CSR | Citi AA Exec Business Cards: Ink+ | Amex BGR

With a 150 dollar fee with no benefits I find it hard to believe anyone will apply.

You assume no one will, but someone will.  Just like their "Black Card" that some people applied for.
