Barclays Black Card

Does anyone here have experience with them? Do they start you off with a low credit line? Just curious. I have to admit I am attracted to to the "higher end" cards. Just old school vanity I guess.

Re: Barclays Black Card

I no longer have any Barclay cards. At one time I had a Sallie Mae but then that became a defunct card and was transferred to a Mercury Mastercard which is issued by First Bank & Trust.

You might want to search Barclay here on the Forum and get a feel for how others feel about it.  I remember a couple of years ago, every time I signed on to the Forum people were talking about Credit Limit Decreases right and left.  But as they say, YMMV.

Re: Barclays Black Card

I can't speak to any one particular card, but back when I had a Barclays card, I had a good experience personally! The customer service was good and I was given a CLI instantly after approval. Granted, it was the Apple card....

Good luck!

Re: Barclays Black Card

You won't find a lot of data points here on the forum specific to this card or the other 2 in the Luxury Card product line (Titanium and Gold), partly because there is a pretty widely held belief that the level of benefits that each of these cards provides does not justify their annual fee. The "high end" moniker more accurately describes the image that Barclay is trying to cultivate than it describes how the cards are perceived by members here.

BarclayUS is in general a somewhat conservative lender.

The Barclays "Black Card" ( San serif bold font, visible all the way across the McDonalds lobby ) is the Zoolander of high annual fee cards.

Re: Barclays Black Card

For $495 AF and no preset spending limit - sounds more like an Amex type of product back in the day...

The Black card requires a 750+ score and high spend.

Barclays Bank has been good with me over the years but the most "expensive" AF card I have is the Wyndham Rewards Earner which is a Visa Signature card.

The other 2 are no AF: View MC & Frontier Airlines MC.

They HP for everything - CLI, new apps for current customers, etc
