@Anonymous wrote:Maybe they are changing because not enough people are applying for an 8.25% card when there are plenty of cards with far better interest rates. At 8.25% they are 2 percentage points over many credit union cards at or around 6%. Personally I never saw the appeal of this card but maybe I missed something.
To each his own.To me a bank card with no balance transfer fee, a $3 cash advance fee, an 8.25% interest rate on cash advances, balance transfers, and purchases, no annual fee, and no foreign transaction fee is in a class by itself.
Can you point me to a credit union card available to the general public that has an interest rate of 8.25% across the board, even on cash advances? If so, please do
BECU, general public being Washington. Card is 7.15%, even offers rewards. MUCHO better than the ring. No, NFCU does not compete (as far as I know) which is why I did not join. There are many LOCAL CUs that provide the same rates in each state. There just happen to be a lot of Seattleites on this forum.
I'll bet if you look closely you'll see that the interest rate on cash advances is much higher. None of the cards being pointed out have an 8.25% rate on cash advances.
BECU is not open to the general public.
Cash advance rate is the same. And, it's looking into the locals I was getting at, there are many not available to general public that offer the same benefits.
this is an interesting article as I just recieved a Barclays card ring offer with the no frills 8.25% APR offer. the offer expires January 2017.

A card which offers a low rate on everything, even cash advances, zero balance transfer fee and a $3 cash advance fee, and no annual or foreign transaction fees, is pretty amazing in my book.

It's the most versatile card I know.
