Not that I would get one since it's an absurd waste of money when compared to my citi prestige and amex platiunum, but I do like barclays and have never had an issue with them. The only card I have with them or have ever had is the US air, now red aviator card, so I dont have too much experience and know many people have complaints, but I'm happy with them. I guess the lawsuit and marketing issues with visa finally caused them to shut the black card down. No more working application links and the blackcard website has no apply button anymore. I'm just wondering what the next move will be for them in the "high-end" credit card market. I doubt they will just shut it down and not come up with something else to compete with Amex Platiunum and others. Any thoughts or ideas of what comes next? Maybe something a little less absurd..
I hope they come out with a cash-back style "premium" card. Something like 2% back on all purchases. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the points rewards type cards, and I'd love to see something like the Citi Prestige, but with cashback.
Barclay's is already pretty close with the Arrival+ card, but I can't justify the annual fee for what amounts to 0.2% more than my Double Cash card. Sure, the Arrival+ is a WEMC, but I can upgrade my DC to WEMC once my promo APR expires.
If they came out with an Arrival Premium (or something like that) at around $500, with the additional status upgrades/vouchers/benefits/etc. of the Amex Platinum or Citi Prestige, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
