Benefit from AU on AMEX?

So my girlfriend was approved for a AMEX card and i wanted to know how can i benefit from being an AU? Will they be more likely to approve me for a AMEX card later on?

It definitely would help your internal score with them. By how much, who knows, but it would.

Also, you would lock in your MSD as 2014 for all of your Amex applications now and in the future.

And finally, depending on your utilization, the credit limit might also help in that sense. .

I agree with all but helping you get your own.

but the biggest bonus is locking in a MSD date!

Possibly but they aren't going to overlook any glaring issues with your credit if you have any.  Best to rely on your own credit.  I don't think anyone has conclusive evidence one way or the other.

As with any creditor, being an AU all depends on the TL being added to your reports.  If it has a good, long payment history, high age and low utilization it will help.  If it has derogs and/or low age and/or high utilization it will not help.

Re: Benefit from AU on AMEX?

It helped me get both a delta and bcp on my own less than a month being a au. Best of all I didn't have to go charge to regular credit card. When I applied I hit the shorter application by logging in. Approved with 9 old baddies and several new accounts in the last 8 months.

Prior to your approvals had you apped for and been declined? If so, how long ago?

Thank you.  Your datapoint might be valuable to others. It is surprising that the charge was denied and that they allowed another app within 30 days.
