I have about $12k left in student loans and would like to get a 0% interest 12-18 months credit card to pay it off aggressively.
I have 4 inquiries currently, with two dropping off in October.
I have scores ranging from 721-745 from the three.
My utilization is at 12-18% from the three.
What's the rate on the SLs
If the rate is less than what you'd pay on a BT fee, then just keep the SLs
Or only go for cards with no BT fee, which are uncommon; only one I can think of is NFCU Platinum. Most issuers pulled their BT offers months ago.
I'm not sure about private student loans but, for federal student loans, I don't believe you can pay more than the minimum payment on a card. I used to work at Navient and they explained to us that rule is because cards can be discharged in BK and student loans cannot. They didn't want millions of folks using cards to pay the loans then discharging the debt. Let us know how it works out!
