Best Buy MC Reward Zone Levels question

I got my MC less than a month ago and today I got an e-mail that I'm Premier Silver because of my spending, said I would earn certificates faster now.  But what are all the levels and what do they do?  Is it possible to get my card upgraded from Gold to Platinum at some point?

They have a platinum? I thought it was just gold and then you graduate to silver.. or whatever metallic color. i don't think it was platinum unless that is another level? I could be wrong. I probably am. I always am.

Re: Best Buy MC Reward Zone Levels question

Silver status means that for all your Best Buy (*not* grocery/dining/other) purchases you get a bonus 50% more reward zone points.  AFAIK you're basically stuck in whatever card you get at the start be it gold with AF, gold without, or platinum.  The only way to change is to re-apply for a new card.

Re: Best Buy MC Reward Zone Levels question

wow in less than a month you pumped 2500 through your card?   i average about 1400 or so . up to just over 6900 points (almost $140)  Should help a good bit during christmas!  And the other poster is correct . They dont upgrade you will have to apply again .. what i did was just keep trying the preapproval link and it finally popped up with the plat card. So i applied and got it .. So right now i have a gold and a plat . Been focusing on the gold since it had the points already on it . But come Oct the AF will be due on the gold and i will be closing that card if they dont wave the AF.  Gold 750cl  Plat 600cl ... go figure

Re: Best Buy MC Reward Zone Levels question

They had a recent promo where if you joined you could get silver with only half the yearly amount required so that may have been what happened.  I don't know if I could pay my card fast enough to accrue 2500 by the end of the year.  LOL

This is currently the primary card in my wallet.  I recommend this card (as long as you pay in full).

Re: Best Buy MC Reward Zone Levels question

As said there are two different programs here.

The card itself has 4 levels:

Secured

Gold w/ AF

Gold w/o AF

Platinum

Those are the Mastercard Tiers and are not promotable. You have what you have unless you reapply

Now the Reward Zone has two tiers:

Regular

Premier Silver

The premier silver status is earned when you spend $2500 in a calendar year or by other possible promotions.

It has the following advantages and a few more:

50% more points earned

You can bank your points and save them instead of the certs issuing automatically so you pick when you get rewards

You get a free in home theatre consulation once a year

You have an extended return policy on items purchased with the card I think you get 45 days instead of 30

And the customer service at Best Buy to me is great but they love Premier Silver customers (if you are premier silver they know they are getting your money and go above and beyond)

Just my observations so far.

You forgot the free napster subscription and one free movie a month from BB's online movie rental website.

Re: Best Buy MC Reward Zone Levels question

Hmm..that's an interesting observation. I currently have the gold with no AF, stuck at $500. Does anyone know when they will be accepting customer initiated CLI? Do you ever get an automatic one with this card? Also, does anyone know what the cap limit is on this particular card? Thanks myFico friends!! Smiley Happy

They are saying sometime before the holidays for customer requested increases. Somehow just by luck the other day I called in on something unrealted and was got a gal here in America not some robot call center. We actually had a in depth discussion on the credit card act, changes being made, and the increases. She said they are working really hard to get the increases available again. She said they have targeted getting them available in time for everyone to begin Christmas shooping hopefully by October so they can give customers higher lines in hopes of making more money. She suggested trying back at the end of September just to see.

As far as auto CLI's yes they do give them. I got one on mine right before the CLI's were frozen. I haev had 1 requested and 1 auto since I got the card last Dec.

As far as cap limit I have no idea yet but I know the gold caps out lower than the platinum.
