With issuers like Chase and Amex, you can easily combine lines, so you can get high limits, even though you were never approved for a card with that limit.
I have not had Sam's Club membership in about a year.

My best limit is 24,800 on my BCP. That card started with a 2,000 limit in Nov. 2012.
