I have never tried SM at Sams. But I believe they say warehouse clubs only get the 1%.
If you are shopping at Target, the Redcard may be your best option.

Sallie Mae relies on MCC's just as most other creditors do. You can confirm yourself by looking at the terms:

• Groceries – You will earn five (5) Rewards (which includes one (1) Base Reward) on the first $250 charged to the Credit Card Account each billing cycle on Net Purchases of Groceries. Purchases must be submitted by eligible merchants using the merchant category codes for purchases in this category to qualify for the five (5) Rewards. Purchases made at merchants that do not process transactions under these terms or that use incorrect merchant category codes will not qualify for and you will not receive the five (5) Rewards benefit. Barclaycard is not responsible for incorrectly coded purchases. Purchases in this category that exceed the specified monthly limit or that are submitted by the merchant using incorrect merchant category codes, will earn one (1) Base Reward. Now whether or not those merchants report under a suitable category for Sallie Mae is a separate matter.

Great information. Thank you. So far I haven't seen any user's feedback in this forum that it is eligible for 5% if used at Sams Club. Though some had mentioned that it is eligible for 5% if used at Wal Mart. Some had even suggested to buy Sams Club card at Wal Mart and use it at Sams Club. Or just buy Wal Mart card and use it at Sams Club, since it is accepted at Sams Club.
Of interest is Target. Bought a camera and several add on items and found 5% rewards (coded the purchase as grocery). Got'ta love it! Gets better, the manufacturer gave me $50 off and a Target Gift Card for $20. Almost felt like the purchase was going to be no charge.
