Last month I ordered food online from Doordash, but I got rotten food. Dont know it was rotten because of the vegetable oil they might have used or rotten vegetables were used, but food was rotten. I immediately contacted Doordash and explained to them and even offered them that I could take the food back to the resturant that it came from as the restruarant was in my area, so that they could inspect it, but customer service agent said that I didnt need to and informed me that I would get the resolution within 24 hours.
Next day I received an email from DoorDash telling me that they apologized for the experience I had, but they couldn't offer me any replacement for the food nor any refund because of their rules and conditions. I contacted them and requested them which specific rule they are referring to in order to deny any replacement and refund because they have 40 pages of rules. Agent said that she doesn't know but just said rules and conditions. I never previously ever reporting any issue to Doordash. That was my first time.
I disputed this charge with Bank of America as I charged the food on my BOA customezied card, and I submitted at least 49 pages of evidences/submission which includes copy of food, my written correspondences with DD and mostly 41 pages of their rules and conditions. BOA denied by claim by saying that merchant (DD) did provide the service, so they must need to get paid. I contacted BOA dispute dept and argues that I did not order rotten and damaged food so to say that merchant must need to get paid, but they refused to listen to me anything. I spoke with 3 different supervisors and 4 agents but they all said the same thing that merchant rendered the service, thus needs to get paid even if quality of service is not what I ordered or didnt get what I ordered.
I am very much saddened and disappointed with this disposition of the claim by BOA, but thanks God that disputed amount was only $32, but I will NEVER use BOA card anymore. I am now extremely afraid to use BOA cards because if I would use and if ever any dispute or problem arises then I can NEVER count or trust BOA to resolve it in amicable way, rather BOA takes the side of merchants without the merit and facts. I have two cards with them, one personal and one business. I will NEVER use anymore. If they would like to close it down, so be it.
I have Amex cards for many years...I disputed many transactions at least 200 times, and trust me all disputes were resolved within a few hours in my favor, and all those disputes were over $100...highest one was for $700...Same thing with Chase...disputed at least 40 times in 9 yrs...all disputes were over $100, and highest one was $3k.....Same thing with Discover in 11 yrs...highest dispute was $900......and BOA denied me for $32 and even thought I never filed any dispute with them in 3 yrs???? To me it was right and wrong. Food was rotten and damaged when it was delivered to me, but BOA doesn't wanna listen this.
I know you all love BOA and you guys might have nice experience with this lender, but what happened with me, could also happen with you. Not saying that it will also happen with you...but it could happen. BOA doesn't have any personal rage against me...I have been a very good customer for the last 3 and half year....I have credit line over $27k on personal card- Customized one, and $5k one with business card which opened 2 months ago. But charge was on personal card. Very clean history and not ever any dispute I filed. Yes, so far you guys might have been treated so well when it comes to disputes, but doesn't mean you will always be treated fairly, rather what happened to me could also happen to me.
Discover and Amex are the best in my personal experiences when it comes to dispute...and then Chase...Could you imagine Chase resolved the dispute for the amount of $3K when transaction occurred at abroad but they cared more the relationship and resolved it within a few days...
The purpose of this post not to discourage you, rather to enlighten you that BOA can treat you too the way that has treated me. So, just be aware that you might not have any recourse if something goes wrong about your transaction. I never thought also, but it did happen to me. BOA is just being the mouthpiece of DD by saying that-merchant rendered the service, it gets to be paid regardless of the fact food was rotten or not. Could you believe that BOA gave me this reason in writing and 10 times over the phone to deny my claim?? I mean, they are saying that it doesn't matter food was rotten or not, merchant needs to get paid. If they have not mentioned this particular phrase or statement then it wouldn't have scared me for future usage of their cards, but they have said in writing that merchant must need to get paid even though food was rotten...Wowwww....that's unbelievable.
You have 240 disputes between two lenders?
Yo... 🤯
I had to reach out to Doordash twice in the past 3 years, always resolved without any issues.
Now, if you've been reporting a lot of "rotten" food, this is predictable outcome.
This is not standard response for them
Try Grubhub next time. Great customer service by live chat or phone. The few times I've had problems it has been resolved immediately.
I have to aggree with @Remedios I'm a bit surprised with that many disputes even Amex hasn't cancled your card(s). I know BOfA will not tolerate hard to deal with customers for long.
I've had 2 disputes (one each with a different lender) in the last 10 years.
Also, does OP think submitting 40+ pages of rules is going to help the case? Just makes it easy for an overworked agent to deny!
Amount of disputes is mind boggling. Not meaning to pick on anyone, but with that amount of disputes despite how much one charges one has to question certain things. I have had like 4 disputes over 20+ years over three different lenders I think.
Also to note doordash has always refunded me with no problems if food was cold(took longer than normal for delivery), extremely late, etc. always handled it well

I wasn't thinking anything except helping BOA to investigate the dispute in a timely manner with all the facts and evidences presented to them. I, myself did not know that their rules would be of 40+ pages, and I learned about it when my claim was denied and talked to them over the phone. I downloaded DD rules from their site in a PDF which wasn't that big though...and I submitted along with all the relevant documents pertaining to the claim. I just wanted them to have everything relevant to the claim, but now I think I should not have submitted all those rules...let them do their dirty job...helping sometimes doesn't work in your favor...Learned my lesson.
I mean.. BofA is right. Door dash provided a service to you - if that service wasn't to your liking, take it up with door dash.
Filling a charge dispute with a lender because you didn't like what you received almost feels like fraud to me ?
I will say, the couple of times I've had to file a dispute with door dash, the resolution has been immediate and in my favor. I'm not sure why you've had such experience with door dash.
For sure though, I don't think you should aim your frustrations at BofA. You ordered a service and received it - door dash needs to be paid. The only people who can (and should) refund your money, in my opinion, are door dash.
Luckily, I've only had to file 1 dispute for a fraudulent charge on any of my BofA CC's and they were punctual and polite.
200 disputes with AmEx?!? I'd be walking on eggshells with them 😬
Cheers!

This was my FIRST issue ever with Doordash...I never reported any issue with DD even though I have been ordering food from them for the last 2 years, I guess. So, I dont know where this " a lot of rotten food reporting" comes from you....I was very much clear in my initial posting that this is was my issue with DD and first dispute with BOA....
