BoA / MBNA In-House Records?

On a recent (and successful) application spree, I had app'd with Bank of America Worldpoints and Merrill credit cards (did not realize that Merrill was a BofA company).

DENIED!  Due to a charge-off with Gateway Computer (MBNA account) back in 2000... This has long fallen off of my credit reports (DOL I believe was 1998).

My question is..... How long does B of A or any company for that matter, keep 'in-house' reports on our SS's and credit histories? Forever?

Also, is there a list of Bank of America companies somewhere? I would obviously like to avoid further denials.

Thanks!

Yep, they have a long memory.  As does Chase and American Express.  At least that's been my experience.  Very long memories!!!!!
