Has anyone successfully added the Bread Cashback AmEx card to a mobile wallet (Apple/Samsung/Google Pay)? I just tried and received the following error
Oh wow. That's a major fail. Makes me think of how I can't add my Macy's AmEx to my digital wallet either.
Was bored so decided to contact AMEX via chat to find out and this is what they said. Looks like you'll have to call them to see what is going on
@simplynoir thanks for raising this issue with AmEx! I called that same number before I started this thread and their CSR was courteous but unhelpful. She suggested that I reboot my phone and try adding the card again in 48 hours 🙄

In the few cases I have over the years of failure to add (to SP in my case), that is the sort of response I came to expect! IME, CSRs can see when the add works, or see when it fails for some reasons (authentication error) but in a lot of cases they don't see anything.
The good part is that unless I was told "We don't support that yet", trying again after a day or so really did work!
Update: I tried it again this morning and it worked, but I had to call and speak to a CSR for validation before it became active.

Interesting, thanks for the update and glad you got it sorted it out. I wonder if AMEX is going the way of US Bank where you have to call them to verify adding cards to mobile wallets

I've had to call AmEx several times over the past few days about digital wallet adds, actually. However, my first issue was that the card had been added to too many wallets (was adding it to my new phones, and they had to remove old wallets it was added to despite that those phones were wiped). And then with my BCE, I found out there's a limit on the number of AmEx to any SPECIFIC digital wallet (it worked once I deactivated contactless pay for one of my other AmEx).
Either way, the rule is apparently 5 and 5: a card can be on 5 digital wallets, and 5 AmEx to a specific digital wallet.
