C'mon Sam's Club MC....No take backs on cli....lol

I have a Sam's Club MC from way back in 2005 when it was a discover.  I started out with a 1000 cl and maintained it there through all the rough times.  Always seemed to keep a high utilization balance so I'm suprised this didn't happen earlier.  But in February of this year I paid it to 0 and synch AA'd me to 250 cl.  Didn't complain too much because I understood why they did it.  Just glad they didn't close it.  So several months have gone by and my credit profile has improved greatly,  from sub 600 scores to 670-680's.  So I called synch credit solutions to ask for increase.  Asked for 2000, rep said couldn't improve 2000 but could raise it to 1000.  I said that's great, back where I started.

Welllll, about 5 minutes after hanging up with him, he calls back and says sorry, I made a mistake, I can't raise you to 1000, I can only raise to 500.00.  I told him no problem, at least it's something.

But just wondering,

Has this ever happened to anyone else,  been approved for a cli and then snatched back.

That is a bit bonkers.  Well at least in the future you will be able to get it increased again when your score grows.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Sounds like you weren't approved so there wasn't anything to take back.  The CSR just made a mistake.  CSR's make mistakes with any company.

I've never had Synchrony say they gave me a CLI then say "my bad" and take it back.  That's very bad business if you ask me.

This isn't your question, but I'll add that Synchrony is known (to me and family members) to take AA in the form of CLD/balance chasing if you have problems with other lenders, even if you've never been late with Synchrony.  The good news is that if you just hang in there with the account (even SD it if necessary) as your baddies age, Synchrony will eventually 'come around' again and give generous CLIs.

My own Lowe's card was balance chased down to $470 years ago, and it stayed there for a while (years).  This past spring, I went online and hit the 'button', and my credit line was increased to $3450.  A few months ago, I gave it another try (and I haven't even used the card) and they increased it to $7450. I'm really thankful I didn't close the card when they lowered my credit line!
