Alright so I have my new CC's 3 NFCU, 1 USAA, 1 CapOne, 1 BBRZMC,
I'd like to begin in 2011 to use them effectively for rewards and points, I've been looking for instructions (or strategies) to maximize usage for all of them. I remember reading somewhere here about peoples different 'ways' to pay bills, or use CC's in order to build points and rewards without accruing interest.
If anyone has or would like to share your personal strategies I'd really appreciate it, most of you have been working your CC accounts very fluently for years and I'd like to learn how to do this as well.
Thank you
I'll share.
My cap1 card, I get 5 points per dollar spent on gas/grocery/drugstore purchases and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases. there, I use my cap1 for gas/grocery/drugstore only and where ever amex is not accepted.
For my amex, I use it everywhere else not mention earlier.
You have to look at your cards reward program to figure out which one to use.
Other than that, use the card for all expenses that allow it. For me, mortgage, electric bill, and farmers market are the only expenses requiring cash.
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate you both sharing your personal strategies for cc usage.
I'm excited about 2011 and what I'll build credit wise by using the things I've learned here so far!

A Happy New Year!!
What kind do you have? Do you have nRewards? If so, you should watch out the earned pts' exportation date ... it is four yrs.
Me? I have total of 9 ccs and I uses Chase Freedom VISA (I will earn additional rewards due to the banking accts holder with Chase) mainly, then Citi Driver's Edge and Discover More (only for 5% Bonus categories). The rest of my ccs ... no expiration date on earned pts/$ ... are charge with small purchases to keep it as an active status.
* Be careful to not to over spend to earn more pts.
* As mvv's advice, read all terms & conditions about Rewards on each cc. Then you need to find out what is the best method/usage for you to earn more pts/$, and does not loose the earned pts/$. Take a note ... write down the info on a piece of paper ... it's better than just think in your head. VISUAL always works well for me ~
Google ebates. It is a website that allows you to earn extra cashback when you shop online.
If you can, use CC to pay for bills and insurance policy.
And tells us what reward system for each card you have.
