Re: CC never called to activate ???

From my understanding the account will still be reported to the CRA.

Re: CC never called to activate ???

It probably already is activated anyway, whether you call or not. You may be able to get the credit card company to not report it if you call and say you've changed your mind, though.

Re: CC never called to activate ???

nothing has happened to me.  i never activated my orchard card when it got renewed in november; i purposely did this to keep myself from using it.  reports every month.  no hassling phone calls about why i didn't activate.  also haven't activated my new ny &c card that i got at the end of july (just lazy, i hate phone calls).

Re: CC never called to activate ???

Activation generally has no effect on the validity of the account - it is still open and usually reporting monthly to the CRAs. If it is a new account, purchases on the card may be declined until it is activated - it depends how strict the CC company is. If it is a renewed card, many companies let you process a few charges before contacting you or declining. I have a couple of accounts with nothing but low-APR-for-life balance transfers on them. I have received new cards and never activated them (since I don't plan to add purchases to an account until the BT balance is gone) and it's been years with no contact from the CC company. Activation is just a mild security measure and sometimes provides the CC company with an opportunity to capture your phone number and possibly try to sell you credit insurance ...
