CHASE: After the Mini-Spree

I've already stated here about doing a mini-spree week-before-last for CSP (in branch) - 16.7k SL, Amex BCP online - 2K SL and Citi DC - declined. This added 3 HPs to EX for a total of 9. EQ and TU (1 each) are unaffected. All three FICOs dipped a little. Today, I went into my offers from Chase online. The prequalled offers of Freedom and Slate have vanished. With the 2 new cards, my total credit jumps 130% and my Util dives to almost zero. Of course, my AAoA will shorten. I was just wondering what Chases's thinking is in withdrawing the prequals. I already have an FU (6k) and I bank with them.

This is for personal enlightenment. I'm gardening for two years (I think).

Re: CHASE: After the Mini-Spree

No one will be able to tell you for sure what Chase is "thinking" as far as such offers no longer being available. Possible speculation is that you no longer meet their pre-screening criteria or currently have sufficient unsecured credit internally with them.

There's all kinds of factors that can be at play. That's not to say that at some point in the future the pre-qualified offers wouldn't return.

Re: CHASE: After the Mini-Spree

Will the Chase site pre qual you if you are over 5/24?

I don't know. I'm nowhere near 5/24. But, if they or their computers know you're at 5/24, I doubt that they'd preqal you.

Re: CHASE: After the Mini-Spree

If I were Chase, this is what I would be thinking:  "This person is acting like someone desparately in need of additional credit.  We don't know why they want all that new credit, but it seems to us to be a risky situation. We won't grant them any more new credit for the time being."

Re: CHASE: After the Mini-Spree

Well, remember, I was just looking at my offers. I didn't apply for anything and have no intention of doing so for a few years. As for needing credit, that's the last thing I need. This is more of a hobby (with great rewards). I need winning Powerball numbers.

Re: CHASE: After the Mini-Spree

it's interesting that you did get that much, but only $2K with the Amex card. That's quite a big gap from one to the other.
