CLI button on account summary

Hello everyone -

Generally speaking, those CLI button on your account summary - I am thinking accounts such as Amex blue, Walmart - Barclays etc....

are they soft or hard pulls?

do you guys typically prefer to press the button and see, or actually call and get an analyst or some sort on the line

thanks

Re: CLI button on account summary

Of the ones you list all are SP's except Barclay and I prefer to call

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: CLI button on account summary

If you're going to make broad generalizations then assume hard though several in the OP are soft.

I prefer online.  You should base your decision on your own preferences versus just polling people.

Not sure if this was for my post but so OP is clear

Walmart, Amex is always a SP and Barclay is always a HP and never a SP for CLI's

Re: CLI button on account summary

The button on Capital One's control panel is a soft pull. But since it's Capital One, there's no point in even using it...

Discover is also a soft pull, but they will ask you to run a hard pull if that fails.

Barclays is always a hard pull.

Chase? Gotta call in as far as I'm aware.

But in general, always assume HP.

I Have Way Too Many of These.

American Express - No CLI or Appreciation Gift in 7 Years

Citibank - Handing Out Credit Limits Like Candy

Chase - Surprisingly, Still Tolerating My Credit-Chasing Ways

Bank of America - My Newest Bae.

Everyone Else.

Re: CLI button on account summary

Amex is a SP and you should request 3x current line... it will counter instantly.

walmart/GE cards are SP except a few like Carecredit... either online or call credit solutions if you want to ask for huge increase.

Re: CLI button on account summary

Thank you everyone -

I guess I will tread lightly with people like barclays and chase

but I will go ahead and utilize the button on the account page for the likes of Amex & Walmart.

Re: CLI button on account summary

TO be honest Takeshi

my intentions were not to get a poll going - I just wanted to know where I can use the online button and where I should be calling

I see no reason for anyone that well manages their credit to ever have to incur a hard pull - as a result I tend to shy away from those
