I’ve recently completed my first ever app spree (went 5 for 5!👍) and now I’m looking for advice on making them grow. I did a lot of research on the cards and their function, but I was hoping to get some first hand data from people’s experience with these cards.
Summit/Car Care - This is my oldest card and AFAIK I’m at the top limit for this card. I grew this one from a $1000 SL. I only use it a few times a year, so I’m honestly pretty content with this one.
Disco - I just got my monthly kick to the teeth Miss Disco CLI denial😂 I got one CLI at 6 months, but nothing since. I funneled over $45K through this card this year with perfect payment history (usually PIF) and I just can’t win Miss Disco’s heart! 😂
AMEX BCP - as I understand it, after 61 days I can request a 3X CLI with a SP. With my recent spree, would it be wise to do this or does it matter to AMEX?
BBVA ClearPoints - I read CLI’s are HP, but haven’t seen anybody with 1st hand CLI experience with one of these. This card is my highest limit card, so I’m in no hurry to take another HP, but I would like data if anybody has any.
PayPal Mastercard - I have a great history with Sync, but I’ve heard this card is a slower to get rolling than some of their store cards. How long should I wait for requesting a CLI on it? I grew my Sync Summit in steps ($1000>$1500>$2500>$4000>$8800>$10000) Would this be best or should go ahead and shoot high?
PNC Cash Rewards - in the course of a year I should surpass the $8000 cap on gas stations purchases and restaurants. I don’t really know anything about their CLI (HP or SP?, required/recommended wait time. etc) so any info would be appreciated.
BB&T Spectrum Cash Rewards - This is another one that I don’t know much about, so any help would be appreciated. I actually app’d for this one by mistake trying see if I could see the SL, but I was accepted. I’ll use it the least of all of my new cards, but I will use it some.
DW’s Cap 1 Quicksilver - She got a $1500 SL and I read on Cap 2’s she might eligible for for a Auto CLI after the first 5 billing cycles being on time. I don’t know much else about Cap 1 CLI’s.
What I'm thinking with DISCOVER, at least with me is, it grows with time. For instance, I applied for a CLI after not seeing one for 4 years. Instantly approved, 4K. Tried it again 2 weeks later. Denied. Reason was not enough experience with current CL. I must have had tons of experience at my previous line lol.
I wouldn't think it would hurt to request a CLI with Amex at that interval. It's a softie. If denied, I'd wait 6 mos. Also, its common that if you request a CL above 35K, they will want a 4506-T.
I recently requested a CLI with PNC cash rewards card. Opened it in July 2017. Got denied. Reason: the amount of unsecured credit available. I take it as not using enough of my credit limit. The last 6 months has low spend.
The most sure way to grow CLs is the same way you'd grow trees and gardens. Cultivate it (plenty of use and PIF on time) and give it time.
