I agree with #2. However there have been MANY reports of sp cli requests higher than $1500. Some even $4k.
Yep my wife has been getting $4k on hers, one of my friends has been consistently getting $2500.

I don't know where the cut off is for only getting $1500 per CLI but I do know that my last three CLIs were only for $1500 each. I already had a $15.5 CL when I started the "every 16/17 day" requests.
Hate to rain on everyone's parade but the 20k requirement is incorrect. I received luv increase from 20K > 21.5K last week no verification. It did give me the standand under review message but I logged in 15 minutes later and 1.5K increase was there. I was not contacted by Discover in any way for any sort of verification.

I was told that I could call from my work number or have my supervisor call. Those were the only two options given to me. I am currently working 9.5 hours from my corporate headquarters in a job trailer and my company cell phone does not display company name in caller id. Furthermore, all our offices are closed today and my supervisor is in Ft. Lauderdale. No way to verify employment today. So, you see, not so simple for me.
i have 20K anyway so 21.5 isn't worth all the trouble at this time.
That's crazy. Never heard of verifying employment that way. Usually it's through some type of payroll/HR process but Discover is its own animal I guess. You have a great limit with them at 20k. They kicked me off the train a couple of weeks ago
Yes, having someone clainimg to be your supervisor call seems to give no real information. And at large companies, giving even this to third parties would be frowned on unless going through approved HR channels.
But your boss/owner of company calling from their work phone displaying the name of the company you wrote down at the time of approval, should do it. Especially if it's also on all 3 CRA"S.

Yes. Or it could be a friend who works at that company where I no longer work. Just saying not a high level of proof, which makes me wonder why it is worth it for them.

I'm sure it can depend on your profile somewhat but generally the higher your limit gets the more likely something will need to be verified somewhere. Discover (or any issuer) will not just give out infinite credit without verifying that your income is what you say it is.
I might be the exception but I had two CLI @ 4,000 each a week a part...on the third try it gave me the standard "send you a letter" thing...Keep in mind I had not requested in CLI since opening my account over a year ago. Also, I had very heavy usage and large payments so that might have had something to do with it. Thought I'd chime in...first time posting up.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to add a quick update for anyone still interested..
I forgot to try for another CLI after the 16th day. I just tried it on their website last night (about a month has passed since I last requested a CLI), and got the "Request under review" page.
I figured they'd be in touch to verify income, housing info, etc....
They bumped my limit up 500. Albeit, $500 isn't exactly anything huge to celebrate, I thought it was still interesting that they didn't contact me about the request, nor did they ask to pull my credit.
Like a few other's that have posted before me in this topic, I'm now past the $20k threshold without any hard pulls or income verification as well.

So.. I logged on today and saw my limit bumped up to $20,500. Albeit, $500 isn't exactly anything huge to celebrate, I thought it was still interesting that they didn't contact me about the request, nor did they ask to pull my credit.

Congrats Strider!
