Soft pull usually every 6 months.. Just make sure you ready the language whether a report will be required or not.  Also if SP isnt enough can go ahead and request more through a HP..

Re: CLI rules for Citi

After 6 months, you can request a cli.  The first screen will say no credit report will be needed (sp).  If they are not able to approve the cli at that point another screen will come up stating they need to pull you credit report (hp).  You will be able to accept or reject at that time.

Re: CLI rules for Citi

With my Citi cards, the language on the credit line increase changed to "A credit report will not be requested" at around the 2 month mark.  A denial will not reset the clock, but an approval will start a clock that requires you to wait at least 6 calendar months prior to being granted another credit line increase without a HP.

FWIW I have never seen Citi offer a HP after rejecting a SP CLI; but they always do splash the offer to take a HP for more after being approved for a SP CLI.

Re: CLI rules for Citi

Agreed with the others. 6 mo from the last cli or start up. I generally go 6 to 7 mo between each. Each SP Cli has been between $1,500 and $3,000. But your spending may be different than mine.

Good Luck!

My Costco CLIs were exactly +1500, +1500, and +3000. 4600 to 10600

Prestige was 8000 to 16000

$1200 does seem unusually low compared to your two larger limits...not sure what would have caused that.

Re: CLI rules for Citi

Should it be the same for Citi-backed retail? I ask because I tried for a CLI on Home Depot this week. Last attempt was in April. Took a HP in April and was denied. Tried once more this week, again with another HP (no mention anywhere of a SP), and they denied it again, saying it hadn’t been long enough since I asked...AFTER hitting me with another HP. If I was under some time limit imposed by the bank, shouldn’t I have just been told “it’s too soon” (even though I didn’t get the CLI last time) rather than having to waste another HP?

It went to manual review this time, which I had hoped would be a good thing as they’d see my $6000 Lowe’s limit and hopefully increase this pitiful $500 CL I’ve had for 13 years...

Re: CLI rules for Citi

Citi Retail CCs do not follow the same review process as their core products. Very rarely do they SP for CLIs as most customer-initiated requests are HP regardless of product (Best Buy, Shell, Home Depot, Staples, LL Bean, etc.). So, unlike Citi core cards, expect a HP since there won't be a SP disclaimer, unfortunately.

That said, DSNB CCs that are managed under the Citi umbrella (Macy's and Bloomingdale's) are typically SP for CLIs, but there are instances where an HP may occur if the system is unable to yield a CLI via SP or the CL request is >$25K in most cases.

Re: CLI rules for Citi

Thanks @FinStar, it’s the only Citi card I have and I’m not familiar with their policies.
